Wheels Of Opportunity (WOO)

Safety Buzz Campus is thrilled to announce the launch of Wheels Of Opportunity (WOO), a brand new program designed to strengthen our rural community, support local agriculture, and open doors for people looking to build meaningful careers in the ag sector. This Industry Advancement Grant is funded through the Government of Alberta.


Over the next two years, SBC will help 120 people gain the skills they need to step confidently into agriculture and ag‑related careers—including:
✔ Class 3 Driver Training
✔ Air Brakes Certification
✔ Ag‑Related Safety

This program is made possible with the collaboration of our amazing partners including Prairie Rose Public Schools, Forty Mile Community Resource Center, Forty Mile FCSS, Cypress County, Careers Next Generation, Alberta Sugar Beet Growers, Medicine Hat YMCA Employment Centre, Agro Plus Inc and more to come!

The Employment Pathway Grant

For Class 1 Commercial Drivers

The Employment Pathway Grant provides funding to employers in the commercial transportation industry to invest in their workforce and secure training for new drivers.

This program aims to enhance workforce participation, improve retention, and support professional development for Class 1 drivers. Eligible employers can apply for funding to be reimbursed for costs associated with hiring and training Class 1 drivers.

Through this funding stream, employers can apply to be reimbursed for training and onboarding costs associated with training and hiring new Class 1 drivers. To qualify for the Employment Pathway Grant, employers must be one of the following:

  • a private business, including sole-proprietors, general and limited partnerships, and corporations

  • non-profit organizations

  • First Nations and Metis Settlements

All employers must be established in Alberta for at least one year and must be in good standing with the province.

Note: Employees cannot apply directly to this program.

Up to $25,000 in 3 funding categories under which employers can apply:

1. Reimbursement of new driver training costs (up to $10,000)

2. Incentive for onboarding new drivers (up to $10,000)

3. Reimbursement of professional development costs (up to $5000)
